Maria João Brilhante is a retired Associate Professor and researcher at the Center for Theater Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. She is developing the project ARTHE- Arquivar o Teatro, financed by the FCT. She was chairman of the Board ofDirectors of TNDmaria II (2008-2011). She has published essays and books on literature, translation, iconography and the history of theater and performance. She does theater translation and directed the collection of Biographies of the Portuguese Theater. She belongs to the Editorial Boards of Sinais de Cena magazine and EASTAP magazine.
